Caldicot, once a small village in the South East of Wales, has grown rapidly in recent years. Close to motorways and good rail links it is an easy place to access and with many attractions in the locality we feel privilaged to live and work in this town. Sandy lane School is set in an ideal part of the town, within easy reach of parks, the castle and close proximity to the town centre, all of which give plenty of scope for extending our curricular activities beyond the classroom.
The castle itself was founded by the Normans and developed throughout the Middle Ages as a stronghold. In Victorian times it became a family home and remains in an excellent state of repair. Today, with the opportunity to participate in Medieval Banquets, there is much to see and do inside the castle. Outside, set in a beautiful wooded country park of almost fifty-five acres, with the River Neddern flowing through, it is an ideal location for walking, exploring nature, picnicing or just enjoying some peace.

With a growing population the town has a lively centre, especially on Tuesday when a popular attraction is the weekly market.
