Class Organisation and Staffing for September
"Moving Up Day" for the Caldicot schools is on Tuesday 4th July and on that day our children will spend the day in the class they will be in from September.
NB THERE WILL BE NO NURSERY ON THAT DAY
As parents are no doubt aware we are not allowed to have classes with more than thirty pupils in them so this means that, as usual, we have to have classes with mixed ages in school. When this is the case the classes are organised taking account of the age of the children but also ensuring that there is a suitable working group of pupils within each age group in each class.
Some parents may be aware already but for those of you who have not yet heard, Mrs Boutflower has made a difficult decision and has decided to leave at the end of term. Mrs Boutflower has worked at the school for over fifteen years with the last six being spent in the Nursery. I am sure you would like me to wish her all the best for the future on your behalf and thank her for her hard work with all the children over the years.
Parents of pupils currently in Kingfishers class will be aware that Mr Warner has not been in school since before Christmas. I am now in a position to say that he will not be returning to school. This follows concerns raised by the school about his class management and teaching methods which were considered by the school Governors. I would like to thank Miss Bayliss for covering so ably during what was a very difficult time for the school.
Because of the above changes to staffing I am not able, at the time of writing, to put a teachers name to every class. However as soon as the position for September is known then you will be informed.
Class lists will be put up in the entrance hall in the morning on Monday 3rd July and the class structures will be as follows;
Swans Y2 27 pupils Mrs S Bevan
Kingfishers Y2/Y1 20/6 pupils A N Other
Cygnets Y1/R 12/12 pupils Mrs M Heath
Ducklings R 24 pupils Mrs E Beynon
Tadpoles Nur. a.m. 26 pupils max. Miss H Williams
Tadpoles Nur. p.m. 26 pupils max. A N Other
As always, if you have any concerns about your child, then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sports Day
This will be on Friday 7th July starting at 10.00a.m. All children will participate, including nursery, and parents and friends are invited to watch. You are invited to stay on site at lunchtime and picnic with your children (school meals available for children as normal). In the afternoon there will be fun events arranged by the PTA for the children (see letter from PTA). Your child will stay with you for the afternoon but if you are unable to attend then your child will remain in the care of the school staff until the normal end of the school day.
Children who normally attend afternoon nursery may be brought to the nursery unit for 10.00a.m. so that they can participate in the races and please note that there will be NO AFTERNOON NURSERY on that day.
If there is bad weather on the 7th July then the Sports and PTA afternoon will take place on the following Friday, the 14th July.
School Reports
Each child's end of year report will be sent home on Tuesday 11th July. This is a detailed report and should you wish to discuss it with the class teacher then please feel free to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
Open Afternoon
The main school (not nursery)will be open for you to visit and look at your child's work with them on Thursday 13th July between 1.30p.m. and 3.00p.m.
40th Anniversary Celebration
This will be held on the afternoon of Monday 17th July, more details to follow!
Leavers Assembly
This will be on Thursday 20th July at 2.00p.m. and parents of our Y2 pupils are invited to attend. The special assembly will be followed by a small "Leavers Tea" for the children which is a chance for children, parents and teachers to mix informally.
School will close at the end of the day on Friday 21st July 2006 and will start again for the children on Wednesday 6th September 2006.
It just remains for me to wish everyone a good summer holiday and I hope the children settle well into their new classes and new schools. I would like to thank all parents for their support over the past year and I would also like to thank all the staff and governors for their hard work and dedication to the children of
Yours sincerely,
