The Governing Body
Quality Mark
The governors wish to congratulate the staff and pupils of Sandy Lane School for the hard work they have done to gain the Quality Mark.
The Governing Body meets in full twice each term to discuss school business and make important decisions.
There are several sub committees which meet in between these business meetings, if required, and take their reports to the full governors meetings. Sub committees deal with topics such as finance, performance management, appointments, curriculum, school promotion in the community, pay review and the unpleasant duties relating to redundancy, complaints, capability, grievance and discipline if needed.
The Governors of Sandy Lane are;

The Governors tell us about themselves.
Mrs. Susan Richards
Mrs. Richards has been a governor for 20 years in three different schools. As headteacher of Sandy Lane she had a choice whether she wished to serve on the governing body or not but felt that it was important for her to be a part of the decision making team at the school.
Her interests and hobbies are many and varied, ranging from horse riding, animals in general, looking after her own horse, dog and cat, patchwork and quilting, off road 4x4 driving, travel, reading and gardening.
When asked her views on the school she said " Sandy Lane is an excellent school of which I am proud to be headteacher. Everyone associated with the school is commited towards raising standards and helping children reach their full potential."
Mrs.Rachel Pullen
Mrs. Pullen has been a governor for 9 Months. She became a governor because she wanted to play a more active role in her children's education and also she wished to learn more about the current education system.
Her interests and hobbies are wine tasting, cooking, swimming, reading and classical music especially opera.
Her view of Sandy Lane is that it is a wonderful school. All the staff are so dedicated, friendly and helpful. The school is totally committed to the children, which is so remarkable given the amount of 'red tape' they have to deal with just to be able to do their jobs.
Mrs. Katherine Mary Heath
Mrs. Heath has been a governor for 7 months. She hopes that her 30 years experience in teaching would benefit the school and pupils alike. She feels she would like to make a valuable contribution before she retires.
Her interests and hobbies are painting and sketching (she belongs to a local art society), animals (having always had a wide variety of pets and livestock at home), cooking, travel and walking.
She feels that Sandy Lane is a friendly, happy place to be.
